Lara Schaffner was born in Schaffhausen/CH. From 2001 to 2008, she studied at the Musikhochschule Lucerne in the piano class of Yvonne Lang (Teaching diploma 2005) and after in the organ class of Monika Henking (Teaching diploma and Concert diploma with highest honours 2008).
Afterwards, she continued her studies with a Master at Rotterdam conservatory with Ben van Oosten focusing on French Symphonic Organ Music. Furthermore, she also got improvisation with Aart Bergwerff. As part of her Master she undertook an Artistic Research of Marcel Dupré’s Le Chemin de la Croix. In 2010, she finished her studies with an examination concert at the Kathedrale Basiliek Sint Bavo at Haarlem/NL „cum laude“.
In 2006 and 2007, Lara Schaffner won a national scholarship of the „Migros-Kulturprozent“ an got the Edwin-Fischer-Gedenkpreis for her final exam organ. Different masterclasses in Haarlem and Leipzig (Olivier Latry, Louis Robilliard and Gillian Weir) gave her important stimuli.
She performs as an organist solo and with other musicians in Switzerland and abroad and works as principal organist at the Stadtkirche Glarus/CH. From 2015 until 2022 she was artistic director of the Adventskonzerte at St. Luzi in Chur/CH.
